2-8-2010 Meeting Notes!

Hey lovlies! Here are the meeting notes! Check out the cool stuff we're doing like our first Global Women Film Series event on Thurs 2/18 at 5:30 p.m., Eating Disorder Awareness Week, info about the Feministing Panel, and SEX ED FOR EVERYONE!!!

2/8/10 WSAC Agenda
--Evaluation of activities fair: great!, ddpp: we will be in contact with dance dance party party. Check for more interest for a possible date. open house: success! perhaps more promotion? the food was good.

--Our Constitution revamp meeting WILL NOT be on 2/26. We will move the date. To be discussed at next week’s meeting.

--Remember to sign up for office hours and tabling! Sign up sheets are in the office!

--2/18 “Sentenced to Marriage” Screening as a part of our Global Women Film Series! 5:30 p.m. in Coffman 202. Free food!

--Eating Disorder Awareness week begins 2/23. Britt will make flyers! WSAC will host an all-day event on Friday 2/26. Letter writing to various companies will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with free food! A speaker will come in at 1:30 p.m. and then FREE YOGA CLASS (please bring a mat if you can!) at 2:30 all in Coffman 202! There will be a movie screening in the evening, “America the Beautiful” with free snacks and discussion. Britt has made a Facebook event page! Andrea will look into Daily advertising. Logistical details to be discussed more thoroughly next week.

--Sex Ed for Everyone meeting with Silent-But Deadly on 2/22 @ 4:00 p.m. in Coffman 202: Sophie will contact Aurora, SHADE, and QSCC for possible co-sponsorships. UPCC/NARAL are totally in! MPIRG’s Gender and Sexualities Task Force would be willing to promote.

--FEMINISTING contract has been read and approved! MUST START PROMOTING!!!! (it’s only four weeks away, yo!) Jessi will make a teaser flyer. REMEMBER: March 10th, West Bank Auditorium, 6:00 p.m. More flyers and info to come!
--Mia will look into accommodations.
--DEF Grant application with Queer Women and UPCC has been handed in. Sophie is working on a budget for QSCC, and we are still trying to get a hold of BMW. The Transgender Commission is in as well.
--As far as representation on the panel, Sophie, Pammy, Andrea, Mia, and Kira have been nominated/shown interest. ALL nominees MUST present some sort of abstract that would outline: an self-researched issue in feminism that could be discussed on the panel, community involvement with activism/feminism, AND involvement in WSAC. PLEASE BRING THESE ABSTRACTS to NEXT WEEK’S MEETING (2/15) so we can have a collective discussion and consensus. If ANYONE else is interested, PLEASE bring an abstract as well!
--Aidan will do meet and greet! Sophie will email Martha with Aidan’s contact info!!!

--S.O.S. Campaign update: Coalition meeting went well. S.O.S. demands were discussed and revised. Outside voices were great! March 4th is National Day of Action! There will be a rally outside Morrill Hall at 12:00. Planning meeting 2/24 11:30am in WSAC.

--Women Against Military Madness will host Dhrouba bin Wahad to speak. WSAC has approved to give $200 for travel!

--SEIU Local 26 Janitors are going on strike. Brief planning meeting on Feb 9 at 6:00 pm in rm 326. Jessie and Betsy will attend!

--TUBMAN BENEFIT CONCERT BANDS: Solid Gold is a NO. Anders Ponders, Peter Wolf Crier and Lookbook. Molly will contact!
